The modern man takes care of himself and is aware of the benefits
associated with a proper grooming regime. This awakening is driving
the growth of the men’s grooming industry in Thailand and so, to
create informed consumers, PS Grooming was launched to
provide men with the required expertise.

Established in August 2013, PS Grooming has helped
introduce male grooming culture to the country. Gone are the
days when men had only a few choices to groom and pamper
themselves, and they were forced to sneak a partner’s beauty
products. Men now have their own shaving and skin care products,
exclusive barbershops, and other grooming services.

The first exclusive brand launched in Thailand by PS Grooming is Truefitt & Hill,
the oldest certified barbershop in the world. Strategically located at Central Embassy in the heart of Bangkok, this men’s grooming outlet is the first of many planned in the coming years for the growing Thai market. PS Grooming is committed to serving the growing demand for men’s grooming services in Thailand.

Sakorn Thavisin, the cheerful, brisk, well-groomed owner of PS Grooming has
spent half of his life travelling around the globe searching for the world’s finest
grooming experiences and products for gentlemen.

Strolling along St James’s Street, one of the most historic and prestigious
streets in London, he came across legendary Truefitt & Hill, the oldest
barber salon in the world as certified by the Guinness Book of World
Records. He then decided to open the first Truefitt & Hill in Thailand in order
to provide this old-school barbershop experience that exudes English style,
luxury and comfort for discerning, affluent customers. He also plans to launch
other men’s grooming services in Thailand under the PS Grooming’s umbrella

Sakorn’s interest in men’s grooming and lifestyle started at a very young age. As a boy at
Assumption School he was required to have a short and neat haircut. “I went to the barbershop
very often and I always loved the atmosphere. I enjoyed sitting in the chair, getting my hair treated
and cut,” Sakorn says. “I believe that great skin and neat hair reflect great habits. It means you
possess an attention to detail.”

Sakorn visited London for business with his father regularly and during his studies at Coventry University. He hung out with friends in London every weekend. There, he found St James’s Street, a masculine oasis. “I saw that a lot of men come for finely tailored suits, fine wines, yachts and Havana cigars. They also came for shaves and haircuts. It’s a paradise. You couldn’t find something like this anywhere in Thailand.”

Professionally, Sakorn’s interests remained in the men’s grooming business. As a long-time assistant vice president of public relations at Central Pattana, he spent most of his time in Central department stores. “I always thought that something was missing. There was no space exclusively for men to get a haircut, or simply to sit back and relax while their partners were shopping. So I decided to set up
a place to meet this demand.”

Central Pattana then sent him to Singapore for chief marketing officer training organized by the Marketing Association of Thailand (MAT). One day when he was flipping through a Singaporean newspaper, he was surprised by the fact that half of the newspaper was devoted to the boom in the men’s grooming market in Singapore. He then took a few days off to stroll Singapore’s streets and visited numerous barbershops—30 of them—and had a haircut, manicure, pedicure, spa treatments, and more until he was sure that this sort of one-stop men’s grooming experience would suit the needs of Thai gentlemen. He seized this great opportunity with a bold vision: to initiate a men’s grooming trend in Thailand.

“I believe that men need their
own space to escape, a place to have
themselves pampered. Now they
have a choice to be in their private
zone and get a tidy up, a trim, or
a full-scale wet shave. It’s a part of
our lifestyle as well and our products
will give Thai men choices that provide
for the ultimate in pampering and
relaxation.”
